Rockport 2008

(July 19, 2008) Rockport, TX – RedfishTeam.com was back to their old ways of catching fish as they competed in the fourth stop of the Texas Redfish Series today in Rockport, Texas. The team of Captain Chris Kohnert and Trent Bishop experienced what turned out to be one of the most active tournament days they had ever had.

“Trent and I had a fairly productive couple days of scouting”, said Kohnert. “We felt pretty comfortable that we were onto fish that would give us a legitimate shot of 14 pounds. Although we didn’t hit that mark, the fish were there in numbers that we had not seen before.” Ultimately, the duo weighed in two fish totaling 11.73 lbs (pictured).

“It was great to get out and wade”, said Bishop. “Chris and I typically prefer to stay in the boat and cover water, but these fish were holed up and the bite was on. We caught over thirty fish today, but the seven pounders eluded us. That is alright; any time you can come out and enjoy the kind of action we did today, it is a great day of fishing.”

Kohnert and Bishop each plan to fish smaller independent tournaments over the next six weeks while they prepare for the final IFA stop in Rockport the first weekend in October.
