Kohnert & Cowart, another top 10 in Galveston Redfish Nation Tour – July 1st & 2nd

The Redfish Nation Tour had its second stop in Texas and Capt. Chris Kohnert & Steve Cowart came away with an impressive 9th place finish. With calm winds, thunder storms, and terrible water clarity for the entire 4 days of fishing the two had their work cut out. After not catching any keeper size redfish on the two practice days Chris & Steve had to make a game plan change and that change paid off immediately on day one of the tournament. While only being on the water for a few minutes Steve was able to hook and boat a 27.75 inch redfish weighing in at 7.5 pounds. Instantly the team knew they were on to something and that something was a 4th place finish after the weigh-in on day one. The final day started the same as the first just not as large, the team was able to put a 23” red in the live-well and remove any thoughts of the dreaded 0. With Kohnert poling the boat and Cowart throwing the hardware they where able to get the second fish, another one at 23”, then the wind and thunderstorms came. With the weigh-in complete and a two-day total of 19.10 pound our boys finished 9th place.

“Galveston is tough, we feel pretty good about bringing two fish to the scales each day. We are leaving with our heads held high”, Cowart said after the tournament. “With several top ten finishes this year; we are building our confidence”.

Next stop is Corpus Christi on the first week-end in August. Good Luck!
