(4/21/07) Port Aransas, TX – Chris Kohnert and Trent Bishop of RedfishTeam.com brushed off winds gusting into the mid thirties to bring home a top twenty finish to start off the 2007 tournament season.  On a very windy day that built swells to three feet in Corpus Christi bay, the two anglers teamed up to bring in two redfish totaling 11.85 lbs.  That weight was good enough to lock in twentieth place and a purse of $508.00 in the IFA Redfish Tour in Port Aransas, Texas.

“Trent and I were on fish all day.  We had two small reds in the boat early, and just continued to upgrade as the day went on.  Unfortunately, we were just a couple pounds short of a top five finish”, said Kohnert.  “To the very last cast, we knew we were just one big fish away from competing for the top prize.  We never gave up.  If we continue to keep ourselves in that position, goods things will happen.  I am very pleased with our performance.”

Trent Bishop replaces Steve Cowart this year as co-angler, and this was his professional debut.  “I could not be happier with our finish.  To get a top 20 on our first time out together is more than I could have asked for.  Steve left some very big shoes to fill, and the pressure was on me to perform.  It is great to have the first tournament under our belt” Bishop said.  “I really look forward to rest of the season”.

The pair now set their sights on the first Texas Redfish Series tournament of the 2007 season to take place in Port Aransas on May 5th.  “Although these are not our home waters, Trent and I can go into this next tournament a little more comfortable having fished these waters for two straight days”, Kohnert said.  “We are very excited to get back out on the water”.
