Consistency is key for Redfishteam.com

(5/16/07) Port O’Connor, TX – After two full days of bleak pre-fishing that resulted in no more than one legal redfish, Chris Kohnert and Trent Bishop of Redfishteam.com regrouped to weigh in two fish at 10.02 lbs. in the second Texas Redfish Series event of the year in Port O’Connor last Saturday.  That weight was good enough to place them 33rd for this event, and place them in the top ten for Team of the Year standings.

“We had a very rough couple days of pre-fishing.  We knew there were fish because we could see them.  But, we just couldn’t get them to take anything”, said Kohnert.  “We just felt like if we stayed on them, they’d have to eat sometime.  Luckily, they bit today.  We would have loved to have finished higher, but we accomplished our basic goals of two fish weighing at least ten pounds.  If we can stay consistent, and somehow work our way into a top ten finish, we’ll remain in the hunt for Team of the Year”.

The Redfishteam.com boat was one of two boats chosen to have a camera man filming their day on the water.  The team will be featured on an upcoming Sunday morning fishing show on Fox Sport Southwest.  “We were honored to be asked to host a camera on the boat”, said Bishop.  “We were very honest, and told the tournament director that we had not been on fish, but our intentions were to find them today.  Although we did not catch any monsters, we did catch nine fish, one of which had to be nursed back to life before he could be released.  If nothing else, we gave them some footage to choose from”.  A link to the footage will be available on this site once it is released.

Kohnert and Bishop will spend the July 4th holiday fishing their home waters of South Padre Island with their daughters before preparing for back to back tournaments in Corpus Christi and then Galveston in mid July.
