Redfishteam.com takes 15th Place at IFA in Corpus
(7/14/07) Corpus Christi, TX – After a pre-fishing day that produced several nice redfish, Chris Kohnert and Trent Bishop of Redfishteam.com went into the second IFA tournament of the season confident they had a chance to weigh in a respectable stringer. “We stumbled on a school of black drum on Friday. We could see there were some reds in the group scavenging what they could. We just continued to throw into them until we found the reds. The fish we pulled out of that school were either over-size or capable of winning a tournament”, said Kohnert.
The duo did find the school on tournament day, and landed two very nice fish early. However, at 11:00 a.m., the larger of the two fish began a turn for the worse. “Chris and I decided that we could not release the fish, and I would just work to keep him alive in the well”, said Bishop. “For the next three hours, we only had one angler, and that really threw us off our rhythm.”
The team did manage to keep the fish alive until weigh in and they ultimately netted 13.48 lbs, which was strong enough to place them 15th. For their efforts, the team collected a check for $628.00. With this finish, Redfishteam.com helped to solidify their position in the top ten for Team of the Year.
